AccorHotels especially in Jakarta and surrounding areas through the Women At AccorHotels Generation (WAAG) program held a seminar on August 8th, 2018 to celebrate 2018 International Women’s Day which fell in March. The seminar with the theme “The Role of Fighting Women to Break the Boundaries” presented one of the great female figures in Indonesia, Captain Monika Anggreini.
Monika Anggreini is a pilot who has worked since July 2005 until now on AirAsia Indonesia. She has a total flight time of 11,800 hours, received the “Best Safety Reporter Award 2015” from AirAsia Indonesia in April 2015, and published a book with the title “Burung Besi Monika”. As an inspirational female motivator, Monika Anggreini shared her experience of being a woman who leads and has enthusiasm in work.
The seminar held at De’Langit Rooftop Bar, Mercure Jakarta Cikini. It was attended by representatives of female employee managers from 35 hotels of various AccorHotels brands in Jakarta and its surroundings, namely Raffles, Fairmont, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, ibis Styles (including allseasons), ibis, and ibis budget.
Women At AccorHotels Generation (WAAG) is a network active in the gender equality movement and has around 4,200 members worldwide. One of the goals of WAAG is to help female employees to become more confident through mentor support, training, and sharing experiences. In accordance with the 2018 global AccorHotels International Women’s Day theme #GuessWhatWeShare, the participants had the opportunity to absorb the positive things from Monika Anggreini’s inspirational story for them to apply in their respective work.
The event was opened by Lisa P. Sanjoyo as the General Manager of Mercure Jakarta Cikini, the host of the event. It was also greeted with remarks from Eksi Ayuningtyas as the chairman of WAAG for Indonesia and the Hotel Manager of Pullman Ciawi Vimala Hills. Eksi further said, “Through the theme of the seminar that we proposed, ‘The Role of Women Fighting Boundaries’, we invite AccorHotels women in each hotel to love their jobs, hobbies, or whatever responsibilities they carry out. All work, ambition that is done with love and sincerity will be achieved with maximum results because it all starts from the heart.”
Accompanying Monika Anggreini, was also present as another resource person, Rulvastina Randy, General Manager of Grand Mercure Jakarta Harmoni, who shared her experience as a female leader. Tina said, “I feel happy to be able to motivate everyone, especially women. With this theme, we do not do things forcefully but base on our love.”
