In addition to the beans, the restaurant’s group barista Day Hendratno also highlights other locally sourced products such as coconut, pepper, and palm sugar.
Antipodean takes its very soul from the cafes that have gone before it, not only the Antipodes, but also in Europe. it’s a meeting place and a central spot in Kemang where expatriates and Indonesian meet, chat, gossip, romance and chill out over a cup of excellent coffee and a plate of awesome pastries.

4. Breakfast at Cayenne
Our favorite furniture and interior store, Cayenne, started serving breakfast a little over 3 years ago. And we couldn’t be more excited about it. You finally get to feel to be in an all-cayenne home while enjoying hearty breakfast, cakes, and freshly brewed coffee in their indoor or outdoor seating area. We love their vegetarian friendly roasted vegetable panini ,and the maple hash potato, served with beef bacon and sunny side up eggs.

5. Komunal 88
Komunal88 is a café-market for food enthusiasts, offering gourmet products and even cured meats, from countries with a long culinary history and a vibrant food culture, such as Italy and France in the Old World. One of the most popular and trendy coffee shop in Melbourne Australia, St. Ali branched out and quickly stole the limelight of the rapidly growing third wave coffee culture of Jakarta with their first and (currently) only shop outside of Australia. Other than their craft coffee, we love their delicious breakfast and lunch selection, such as their signature St. Ali Steak Sanga.
This is where the hard core coffee heads get their coffee; Tanamera Coffee produces freshly roasted beans according to the unique formulas of their coffee experts. Tanamera source Arabica coffee beans from Indonesia’s most renowned regions of coffee production, and freshly roast them in-house on site. For food, they have an extensive all-day menu that range from egg benedicts, omelette, toasts, pancakes, granola bowls, burgers, and the Indonesian staple of rice-based menu. The founders, Daryanto, Aston, and Yoshua have achieved barista accolades both in and out of Indonesia, and common grounds is where you can judge it yourself.
