ART STAGE Jakarta Is Coming This August


ART STAGE Jakarta, has just announced its full programme for the second edition of the Fair in Jakarta. The premium international art fair will include a stellar line up of leading Indonesian and international galleries. It is ART Stage Jakarta’s commitment to support Indonesian art through its role as the bridge between the global dart world and Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest and most dynamic contemporary art scene. The exhibition will take place at Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City from 11 to 13 August 2017.

Of the participating galleries this year, 24 are from Indonesia. The Fair presents 36 international galleries from Australia, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, and The United States of America. Adding to the several returning galleries, many galleries will be participating in ART STAGE Jakarta for the very first time and making their debut in Indonesia. It will be really exciting!

To support and foster multi-disciplinary art, ART STAGE Jakarta will host a special interactive by up-and-coming Indonesian collective Double Deer made up of Indonesian artists and musicians who work at the intersection of art, music and science. Their installations titled Transform and Undisplay bring together these different elements that reveal the cutting edge art, science and music.

Check out Off The Wall as Europe Meets ASEAN, an exhibition in which urban artists from two different part of the world come together to present innovative urban art. Beyond the main venue, ART STAGE Jakarta will also be expanding to the atrium of Gandaria City Mall with a new section called The Art Square. This new section offers art institutions, organisations, art groups, young galleries, education centres and non-profit groups a chance to participate! The Art Square will open earlier on 9 August to 13 August 2017.

Don’t wait too long and head to galleries around Jakarta from 7 August to 13 August 2017. ART STAGE Jakarta week has gathered various activities together in one week celebrating art. Among others, the Galeri Nasional Indonesia, the Museum MACAN, the Museum Seni Rupa & Keramik, the Art: New Museum, the Goethe-Institut Jakarta, the Instituto Italiano di Cultura, the Institut Francais d’Indonesie and the Erasmus Huis will be presenting exhibitions, art talks, workshop, art tours and others. Special exhibitions and events will be also taking place at many local galleries, such as Nadi Gallery and ROH Projects.

In its second edition, ART STAGE Jakarta is also proud to present the inaugural Indonesian Award for Authencity, Leadership, Excellence, Quality, Seriousness in Art, initiated by top collector Alex Tedja. The Award recognizes the best of the best across the entire art industry of Indonesia.
