New spots to check out this month:
1. Restaurant 1953 Indonesien
Built in “1953”, a beautiful house located in the intersection of Jl. Panglima Polim 3 and Jl. Panglima Polim 9 in South Jakarta, has a new tenant, an Indonesian restaurant bearing simply the date of “1953“ as its name.
Conceptualized and Managed by Gil D’Harcour, “1953 Restaurant Indonesien “ is a restaurant for all, with a touch of elegance. Chef Satyo Ardianto, back in Jakarta from the Indonesian Booth at the Expo Milan, is cooking Indonesian food from all parts of Indonesia with specially designed menus for lunch and dinner.
A new artisan coffee place in the ‘little tokyo’ area with a cool neighborhood coffee shop ambiance. We love its high ceiling and spacious seating areas, perfect for long talks or mid day musing.
3. The Dutch
A modern gastropub serving elevated comfort food with a creative edge by Chef Chris Moes, a wide selection of beers on tap and handcrafted cocktails.
A new health store concept serving cold pressed juice, healthy breakfast bowls, healthy cakes, smoothies, etc. A store with a star-studded cast.
5. Watt Coffee
After the success of their first store in Kwitang (Central Jakarta) Watt Coffee branches out to the south in Bangka area, also serving only local Indonesian beans. Every two to three times a week you can taste different flavors of beans. Premium blends to single origins. Also bakes up some killer pizzas.
